Admittedly, not an artificial reef but one of our biggest design projects of 2016. The challenge we faced was in designing a Lost World inside an aquarium filled with sharks and rays. We envisioned a space that also doubles as a broadcast center for the Qatar World Cup in 2022. Design began at the central broadcast hub underwater and encompassed both a wet environment for divers and scuba enthusiasts in the aquarium and dry environment inside.
Pushing the boundaries of interactive spaces for tourism is a hallmark of this project concept. Aquarium interactivity is just beginning to realize its full potential. Land based mega aquariums can divert tourism from coastlines, after all why would a guest want to fly 3000 miles to scuba, when a more interactive and exciting themed choice is a just short drive away?
Project in design for 2018.
